Happy birthday Shevawn. I haven't seen you much for the past few years but my memory designates you my number one favorite person. Except maybe William Defoe in Boondock Saints- what a hoot! Anywayz girl I could list a million of things that show you are the closest thing to the man (god?[illegitimate child of god?]) Jesus Christ himself on this planet but I'm sure your modesty would not approve. Welcome to your 21st year. Mind your P's and Q's and keep on rockin' in the free world. I love you!

hello again [Feb. 8th, 2007|09:14 am]
It's been awhile, eh? Yes, I'm back. For good? Who knows. Equipped with a new job, new classes, new friends (or lack thereof), yes, I am back from the squalors of this captialistic frenzy that we call the good ol' US of A.

More later, but for now I have to go to class.

so Roger Waters is playing the entire Dark Side of the Moon in France this summer. And then hes going on fucking tour. Says theres a strong possibility of a U.S. Tour in Fall. Now that would be amazing.

Stereolab rules my face. Listen to them. Go see one of their shows if you can. Drive a million miles to see them cause they'll take you a million miles farther.

Sonic Youth got added to Bonnaroo. Damnit, they're making it really hard not to go.

Im listening to Miles Davis Bitches Brew at the Fillmore East 6/17/70. This website makes me wet in my pants. www.wolfgangsvault.com

thats all for now cause I gotta go to class now. (experimental fiction...mmm...delicious)

[music |sci-texas town]

So, yesterday I went to Yonder Mountain String Band. They played such an amazing set. We got three covers which I was stoked on: "Northern Song", "New Speedway Boogie" (!!), and "Spanish Harlem Incident". Got both setlists...danced my ass off...and a good time was had by all.

Sooo, today, I saw Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks. Dan Hicks was the drummer for the Charlatans back in the day. They were an odd band...but it worked and they rocked my socks. And oh, let's see here...moe. is this upcoming wednesday. I'm also stoked on Victor WOOTEN next month. wow...

Audrey gave me the recordings for the cheese shows...I love that girl. Not only cause shes awesome but..way cool. yeah.

Don't see Robots.

[music |phish-run like an antelope]

So I haven't updated in awhile...my computer is on the brinks of exploding or something along those lines. That...or I'm going to pull an Office Space.

Haven't been doing much...Went to San Francisco to see Phil & Friends and Umphrey's McGee for a rocking Mardi Gras show. Philzone pulled out an awesome parade/balloon drop. This weekend I'm flying into Vegas for Bob Dylan. be sure to call me or something...

String Cheese is three days or so after Dylan....two days of cheese at the Lake. :0

moe. and Yonder Mountain String Band are also playing dates in April at the Lake. You people should find a ride to these shows. brilliant.

well, shit. buy the ticket, take the ride...and if you get the ticket for free, take the ride anyways.

yeah, well I have to go to class.

"What I object to is the craze for machinery, not machinery as such." [Feb. 1st, 2005|11:45 pm]
[music |Lemon Jelly-The Staunton Lick]

"
Ghandhi was not anti-machine. He merely realized earlier than many others the dangers and horrors of a civilization in which the individual is somewhat in the position of a savage who makes an idol and then makes sacrifices to appease it. The faster machines move the faster the man lives and the greater his nervous tensions and his cultural and social tributes to speed. Ghandi would have had less objection to machinery if it merely served the body; he did not want it to invade the mind and maim the spirit.

Who's driving the hearse? [Nov. 9th, 2004|02:00 pm]
[music |Interpol]

" 'The most important thing is love,' said Leigh-Cheri. 'I know that now. There's no point in saving the world if it means losing the moon.'

Leigh-Cheri sent that message to Bernard through his attorney. The message continued, 'I'm not quite twenty, but, thanks to you, I've learned something that many women these days never learn: Prince Charming really is a toad. And the beautiful Princess has halitosis. The bottom line is that (a) people are never perfect, but love can be, (b) that is the one and only way that the mediocre and the vile can be transformed, and (c) doing that makes it that. Loving makes love. Loving makes itself. We waste time looking for the perfect lover instead of creating the perfect love. Wouldn't that be the way to make love stay?'

The next day, Bernard's attorney delivered to her this reply:

Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should sweat to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words 'make' and 'stay' become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.

Leigh-Cheri went out in the blackberries and wept. 'I'll follow him to the ends of the earth,' she sobbed.

Yes, darling. But the earth doesn't have any ends. Columbus fixed that."
